Anyone else had this issue? Stand was getting stiff over the winter...didnt think much of it. Thought it may have been the cold weather. Today, put the bike down on the stand and whoa...WAY to much lean.

Right now I have 2, 2x6's under that stand to keep it at a normal lean. I can look and see that the stand now has a slight curve to it, where is didnt before.

Taking it to dealer, but just wondering if anyone else has seen this?

Thanks!

Mine was bent when I bought it used 763 miles. Some weird scrapes on it. I replaced it thinking someone did something weird to it.

I had a customers '08 tour and my fathers '11 tour do it but you couldnt even see the bend in them. Also, my crash 08 visions kick stand its bent bad, but I dont think it was from the crash cuz there is no damage to that area, I too have a 4x4 under its stand to sit right?

Well, there are extensions available, but no full replacement, aftermarket kickstands...I agree that our kickstands don't give me a warm and fuzzy that they are completely sturdy..but I haven't has an issue yet. <fingers crossed>

If it doesnt't look physically bent...swap it with someone who's lowered their vision?

I must admit, its very odd. Should be covered under warranty...bike is less that a year old. I will post the outcome as I'm taking it by the dealer tomorrow.

How many of you let your wives or passengers get on the bike before you do?

Its not common, but sometimes she does. Kick was ok at one stop, and not the next...good thing for the tip protectors. Maybe thats why they are there! Just kidding.

Any chance that those experiencing this are mounting by stepping up onto the floorboards rather then just throwing a leg over?

I'm a big (fat) guy but I have been using the pegs to get on and off my bikes for years. No bent side stands yet.

I will see if it happens again.

I broke my honda kickstand by working the handle bar back and forth while sitting on it.

No problem with my 2011 Vision kickstand.
But I don't sit on it when it's down and I never let any pillion/passenger mount up before I do and only after I pull the bike straight up and fold up the kickstand.

Yes, the one on the 2011 bent, got it covered under warranty and went back with the chrome one as for Vic it was cheaper as well. Good luck. Also my wife got on the bike before I so as well.

I agree. Also, if we knew the year of all the bent stands a pattern may appear. Perhaps a bad batch of heat treat.

Mine is bent a little too. Not enough to look like it's falling over, but enough for me to throw my 29" inseam legs over. Doesn't seem to affect much.

I am wondering if these few reports are cause for the mother ship (Vic) to look seriously into this issue...Possible recall??? I damn sure do not want a $23,000 motorcycle to fall over because the kickstand bends under pressure....Any others have comments......

Bit the bullet and bought a center stand. My wife likes to climb on the bike only while the side stand is down. I too don't like the way this thing leans on the stand and it feels so weak that I know it will go one day. The center stand seems like it will be much sturdier and the best part is I will get more room in the garage. The way this bike leans it seems to take up a couple extra feet. My wife comes very close to hitting it when parking in the garage. I will feel much better knowing that she will actually have to swerve to hit it now I wonder why Victory does not include a center stand on a bike like this? Seems like most of the big touring bikes all have them except the vision.

When the wife stays on the bike I use the boards to get on and not kick her in the face. I'm a klutz and between the 2 of us we are about 4 bills and the stand is as good as new.

No problem with my kickstand. I'm 6'7" tall and I step through the seat between the center console and my backrest with my right leg, sit down... stand the bike up level and the wife steps on the passenger's footboard, grabs my shoulders and throws her leg over the trunk.

I think if you get off the left side of the bike to get gas then move the bars to the left when the bike is on the kick stand to access the gas cap door it will eventually start to bend. It happened to me on my 08 Vision and I see it starting to bend on my 2011 vision. It's not from sitting on the bike when the kick stand is down. I have never done that. I can hear and see the kick stand drag when I turn the bars. This is just a guess but the bike is over 900lb's something is going to go.

Again, If these issues are for real with the kickstand bending, we need to form a support group and demand that the mother ship (Vic) get involved to investigate if it can indeed happen...I work along side my bike at times cleaning from the ground up to wipe rear wheel etc..I do not want to lie down on the ground or even be near the bike if I know it could fall and hurt me or kill me as the thing is very heavy...I have a lawyer in the family and I will be calling up the people at Polaris if this is a real problem with the strength of the kick-stand...I will also notify the NHSTA with a possible safety complaint if others keep posting they have this issue......I feel it is a very serious issue that needs attention if the facts support these posts........

I think that has something to do with it, I snapped my kickstand on my old gold wing from moving the handle bars back and forth for some work I was doing. The next I know it was on the ground and the kick broke.  I won't do that with the Vision for that reason. I'm not saying that is what is causing it, but I've had mine now for 4 years, parking it up to 3 to 4 times a day with no problems.  So it's either a defect on some, or the binding from moving the handle bars while on the kick.  I know that it is hard to imagine, but when it happened it on the honda I took notice that may have been the cause.

Started to notice my 09 appeared to be leaning more as well. You can grab the bars and with very little effort it acts like it wants to "Pogo" on the kick stand. I always stand the bike up when boarding btw. Anyway, had the better half hold the bike up while I checked out the stand. I found that it will actually rock outward 1/2" or more with very little pressure at the pivot, almost like the bushing is shot. I have never noticed this before and don't have anything to compare against right now. When extended you can move it perpindicular to the bike....anybody else have this? Maybe this is normal? Going to check out the parts illustration and see what Vic uses at the pivot for a bushing.

Problem solved. No more worries of the bike accidentally falling over on me. I never knew just how nice it would be to have a center stand. Neals stand is so compact it keeps everything out of the way. I can't imagine dragging it over anything or even scrapping. However, it is so easy to get it up on the stand that even my wife can do it and she can barely hold the bike up steady. I wish the install was easier, but then again it got me to replace the POS leaky exhaust gaskets. Now the bike is quieter, less backfires and saves a lot of room in the garage.

If you ground that one out you mite be picking gravel out of your shorts. So easy your wife can do! If only she would have installed it.

30,000 miles, wife climbs on while on the stand, she will sit on it at the coffee shop, I crank the handle bars all the time while it is on the stand, no issues here. I even sometimes step on the left passanger floor board and climb on the bike. I was just looking at mine and see no issues, seems just like new. However I always set bike gently on the side stand, and never drop it on the stand.

I have a new 2013 Vision Tour, in 2 months and 8,100 miles the kickstand is doing the same thing. it leans over so far its difficult to get it upright! If my girl is on the back and she starts to dismount, the front tire comes off the ground, and it will flip over if i don't hold it. the first time it happened when i was getting gas and the bike pinned me against the gas pump! Whooah WTF! just called service today, i gotta bring it in asap.

My kickstand is definitely bent...2013 with 6500. I thought it was me until the Vic mechanic brought it to my attention and told me this isn't the first one he has seen. I haven't check if it is covered under warranty but it probably is not.

Is there an aftermarket solution out there? ... and no, a center stand isn't an option.

When parked for the night, I keep a small piece of 2x4" wood under the kickstand foot; which raises my 2011 Vision out of the left lean and seems to keep more weight off of the kickstand.

I am going to examine it though (the kickstand) and see if anything is amiss with it.

Where can one purchase the centerstand from? Ma Vic? Will it work with the bash plate installed under the the engine's crankcase?

There is no bushing around the bolt that attaches the kickstand to the frame:

My Vision is a 2011; and the kickstand does wobble when extended; due to the excessive play of the bolt as you manipulate the kickstand up and down while it is extended in the "down position". I had though that maybe simply squeezing the kickstand's prongs together slightly in a vice would solve it; but that is not the cuase of this issue.

There needs to be a bushing inserted; otherwise that bolt is going to enlarge the hole that it resides in; or the bolt itself could fail..... (maybe)

Mine is also bent. Doesn't bother me most of the time, but if I run it with less than 1/4 tank of gas while on the sidestand, it will go dead.

When I have time; I'll see if I can source a brass bushing for our kickstands. It's really needed.

Why a motorcycle company shortcuts on little things like this; we'll never know...

you know what I just thought about? While in Custer State Park looking at Buffalo, a guy dropped his harley on my vision on the high side . Pretty good lick. I wonder if that could have done it? You know what else I thought about while looking at Buffalo? Our Vision looks kinda like a buffalo , majestic, powerful but not just in those attributes but visually Anyone know what a right body panel and the right half of the plain chin spoiler costs?

If you heated the kickstand you tuck the temper out of the metal. Be ready to pick it up some day when the kickstand gives out on you

Mine is not bent. The mounting bracket has no bushing and the hole is very elongated. Dealer says, Vic wants to know if I lubed it on schedule. Still working on them. Its an 09 . Steel shoulder bolt inserted into what I think is an aluminum bracket. Duh. I'll let ya know how I make out.

Would that not suck if that mounting bracket broke off?  900 pounds of motorcycle dependent on that little mounting bracket; that the kickstand bolt mounts through.

How would you park it if you lost the kickstand support?

I still have not found a bushing yet that will work

My kickstand on my 08 was bent so bad after a 800 miler I dropped her in a parking lot, after careful review I determined that earlier in that trip I lost the rear tire and the tow driver tied the bike down on the trailer with the kickstand down. WRONG>>>
Changed kickstand and no further problems

I have a 2011 vision I bought used and mine is bent. Bought from dealer. Hurt my back last year and couldn't figure out why, now I know why. I was always told you could stand on the floorboards to get on the bike, guess I won't be doing that no more. Will let you know how it goes at dealer, bought 2 year bumper to bumper warranty, it better be covered.

Take your pick. Not a hard job to replace yourself.

I straightened mine in a press just a week ago and ended up bending it a touch the opposite way and now my bike actually stands up a bit straighter. I like how it turned out it is a lot better. This was definitely a lot cheaper than replacing it.

I would replace it. Mine suddenly broke in a parking lot when I used the left bar to pull myself up after checking something under the bike. Imagine my distress when I was pulling up, and the bike is coming down, with the front tip over narrowly missing my left foot. I have learned never to use the floor boards to mount the bike, unless you weigh under 100lbs. Mine was neither heated, or bent purposely, rather bent from "normal" daily use. I always held the bike with me on it when the wife would mount, and I would hold the handle bar while she dismounted. The kick is a weak support member.

Working on a solution with a friend who also has a vision. Try putting an 1 1/2 " piece of wood under the kickstand, on a flat surface of course. Then, look at the lean angle and see if you are comfortable with it. Then, get on the bike and see how easy it is to get it off the kickstand. The difference is amazing but I can only guess that less lean angle would equate to less strain on the kickstand. Will post pictures after my new (warrantied) kickstand is installed.

We offer HD kickstands that will solve this. We sell them to some of the police Depts. that ride cross bikes.

Witchdoctor, funny I just sent an e-mail to you on your website asking the same question. Do you have any idea if the replacement kickstand stands the bike up a little more? I have a 1" thick chunk of metal under my new kickstand and it's just a tad high, 3/4" would probably be about right to keep a little lean into it.

i noticed my 2011 kickstand is bent as well.. my bike almost fell over with my passenger on back getting off the bike.. it never done this before.. i noticed for a few months i felt like the bike leaned over more than it should.. but i thought i was just being weak... now i know for sure its bent.. i put a straight edge against it and then compared it to others.... does anyone make a adjustable kickstand?

I decided to do some modifications to my kickstand after it started to bend. I talked to my dealer about it and he put in a request to have it replaced under warranty. Polaris never replied - big surprise.

I wrote Polaris about it and they told me my 5-year warranty does not cover as the kickstand is only covered under the first year - Another big surprise!

So then I straightened it in a press and split some heavy wall 1? square tubing, fit it around the kickstand, clamped it tight and welded the tubing back together.

While I was at it I replaced the rubber pad on the bottom that wears out way too quickly with an old piece of a car tire and stainless rivets.

Good idea but I wonder just how strong the threaded portion of the adjustable kickstand can be.

So yesterday I decided I'd run to a cafe a couple blocks from my place to get something to eat. Got off the bike and headed for the door and heard a crash. Not only did the kickstand itself break off the top of the tang(or whatever it's called) where the bolt goes into the frame, the bolt itself broke at the top of the threaded portion.

I'm taking the stand to a local welder to see if he can weld up a beefier portion to replace the part that broke off. My old '85 beemer broke off in the same spot but the broken bolt was a surprise. The stand itself is straight too which I didn't expect.
