I like it, it looks pretty cool. I wonder what kind of performance numbers and distance it can travel before recharging?
Or is this even the bike they are releasing? http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/harley-davidson/scoop-electr...

Posts: 366 Albuquerque, NM | It'll have to come with a looping recording of that "potato, potato" sound coming through it's sound system if any harley rider is going to buy one. (should have looked at the pic first...see it's sport bike...disregard this post)

Posts: 178 LaGrange, GA | I think it looks better than every HD on the market today, but it certainly isn't their style of bike. I think the closest they've ever come to rearset pegs was the XRs and the Street Rod, and those weren't nearly as tight as what's pictured there. I don't believe that bike would ever hit production -- movie bike that just has some tech that will eventually see the street. If it actually did hit the street exactly like that I'd be likely to sell a couple of my toys to put my hands on one. |

Yes, but BE ASSURED that your municipality will find a way to tax you for it. |

Posts: 2300 Georgia, west of Atlanta | Read about it in The Wall Street Jouranl the other day, should be interesting, Harley is actually moving to the future with their little 750 and 500cc modern engines and this electric model shows they mave have awoke from their long pushrod air cooled coma. The old dudes that grew up on iron sportsters and shovelheads are slowing aging out of the motorcycle market. It aint like the old days when you had to strap 20lbs of tools on your bike to take a 500 mile trip, 3/4ths of Harley riders don't even change their own oil these days. It's a changing market........ |

"The sound is a distinct part of the thrill," chief marketing officer Mark-Hans Richer said in a news release. "Think fighter jet on an aircraft carrier." |

HD has no plans to produce them, it is mainly a design excersize. I don't think the battery tech is all that good yet, can't get any distance with them.
Funny...for years the HOGs have been touting the "steel is real" mantra and now that HD comes out with a plastic, electric, and more than likely, a tinny POS there are a lot of HOGs atwitter on how cool it would be to have one. |
