When will Vic release the 2016 lineup?  I'm thinking it's early July but can't remember.

Thanks,

I thought it was on the 4th of July since that was when the first model was shown back in '99.

Yup, end of July to coincide with the dealer's meeting and Sturgis. Let's see what exciting new colors are in store. Personally I hope that's all that changes, I don't want to fall for another Vic. It's getting too expensive!

Thanks for the quick response.  Seems like everyone is getting into the fixed fairing bagger business.

I believe the water cooled motor will make its way to Victory. I had an interesting conversation with a guy who gets hired to do quality training with companies. I wore a Victory jacket to a training seminar at work and that started the conversation.

Change is inevitable and in a lot of cases, good. I just hope they don't screw up the comfort/ergonomics. I've demo'd a lot of other bikes, including the Indians and no other is as comfortable as my Lazy Boy Recliner - Vision.

I'd like to have one of those F6B's if the paint wasn't so shitty on them. That is the biggest complaint that I've been reading about; from current owners.

Yes, that can be true. My inseam is 29" though, and I have seen a F6B with highway pegs mounted on the engine guard(s). It looked comfortable for a long ride. I think it would need a backrest though; I'm pretty partial to my Utopia on my Vision.

If the highway pegs are the same as the ones for the GW, they reduce cornering clearance. They also make you splay your legs out, which I find uncomfortable. Watch the GW riders on a long ride. They often dangle their feet straight down, even if they have the highway pegs installed. The GW is a great touring bike, but as good as it is, it just can't match the Vision for comfort.

BTW, I also have a 29 inch inseam, and used to have a GW.

The F6B's seat is set further back so the rider's knee width is narrower and has more cockpit room than the Goldwing.  The highway pegs are either mounted to the crash bars or the spark plug covers (Rivco Aero pegs).  Even so, the Vision still has the narrowest knee width and longest floor boards of the two.

Also, there are multiple rider backrest options for the F6B including the Utopia.

There are definitely trade-offs between the 2 bikes.

I like good rumors too. I was talking to someone who knows the Indian side of the business real well. He said that it won't be long before Vic offers a bike without the Freedom 106... instead with an engine similar to the 69ci Scout. Not sure if it is intended for MY16. I do like that engine, makes for a fun ride on the Scout but definitely a different setup compared to what we are used to with our VISIONs.

My wife ride a Chieftain so I lurk around a couple Indian forums. Those fella are selfish little pigs when it come to new models. They want 2 new model this year. One a little smaller than the Scout (I have no idea why) and one with the straight 4 cylinder engine. I think it is time the way they wait they're damn turn and let us Victory guys get the cool stuff.

lennyb, I wouldn't be suprised not to see a model along the line of the Indian Scout. From what I've heard, that motor was originally going to be for Victory. But all the Indian riders started up the "Indian needs a Scout model", so Polaris moved it over to Indian.

Also Victory PLACED in the top 5 on the Isle of Man TT with an ELECTRIC bike !!! Now the models might not be your cup of tea, but you can't argue the company is on the cutting edge.

better be more than some lame a$$ upgrade... them saying here, we now have a new model called Cross country Wide.. they put a 140mm front tire instead of a 130mm.. i feel they are going to have to step up their game in the radio dept as well.(not on the vision cause they gave up on that one years ago) but on the Cross bikes, you look at harleys radio options and WOW... it Rival most cars !

I stopped at a local dealer today and spoke to one of the salesmen. He said tat one of the owners were at the meeting and a couple things fell through with the release of one of the Victory's. he also said that they are so tight lipped that every person entering the venue is searched for recording devices so that nothing gets leaked before the big reveal. whatever got held up was fixed so I don't know what that was about but only what one of the owners can relay back.
I'm excited to see what will become of the Vision, and the direction of the company. I was disappointed last year but I am hopeful to see the forward progression. It does take time to make some changes and from what I see happening, good things will come. I also think that the newest touring bike can be bigger and better than the vision with and entire new platform. only time will tell.

No need to drastically redo the Vision, it's pretty good as is. There are some things I would change, but it wouldn't be the whole motor.

I hope that BMW 101 concept goes into production. Very sharp looking bike as far as I'm concerned. BMW is going with a new aggressive styling approach in order to attract younger buyers, but it may bite them in the ARS since many BMW old timers are not on board with this marketing strategy in addition to the BMWs just getting too expensive for many.

Why would they need to be tight-lipped and have tight security at the Dealer meeting about this "new" line-up - an electric bike and some different colors!! Notice there was nothing new in the Indian line-up either. Wonder if there's any chance anything is being held back for a Sturgis intro? Very underwhelming!

I think its about time the execs at Polaris stand up and take notice that the execs at Victory, in particular Steve Mennetto, needs to be replaced. In recent interviews including the VMC national event last year, he misleads Victory owners and provides no thought leadership. I love my VIsion but my next bike won't be a Victory. Great bikes but Victory as a business has become complacent and doesn't listen to its customer base.

I've listened to him talk before. When you refer to the bikes as "product", it shows you have no true understanding what motorcycles and riding is about.

Agreed. If motorcycles are products to you, then you definitely don't ride.

Shame, embarassment, prolong pissing off Victory customers ?

Indians are not 8 years out either.  Indians already have superior fit and finish, real leather, LEDs, 111 cu in engine, real paint (no paper decals), more metal, less plastic, bigger saddle bag storage, etc.

Maybe a Ness version or 2.

Tim,

I have been waiting for a couple of years to move up to a newer upgraded model. Victory has given me no choice other than two colors which I don't care for and Victory wonders why they don't sell more Visions.

Can't agree with you more.  They are doing a great job of driving away repeat Vision customers (myself included).

I rode a ways to attend a grand opening of a new Victory/Indian dealership the other night.  Looking at the fit and finish between the 2015 Indians and the Vision was quite telling where Polaris's focus is.  They had quite the selection of quality Indian apperal to rival HD's offerings in contrast to what Victory has.  Looks like Victory is becoming the bastard child in favor of the Indian line.

Very disappointed. Now I need to make a chose outside of the Victory lineup Unless I go electric. I have had my vision for sale for a month Now. So do I keep it and hit over 100K this year or sell it and get another brand. My warranty will be up in November and I'm coming close to 90K miles now.

September. that's all an insider would say and they would not elaborate. apparently not all models get released right away, like the magnum or X1 did. I am not holding my breath. and I don't have any clue what It will be.

I too am disappointed in Vic.  I love my Vision, but it is time for them to do some updating and tweaking as others have posted.  Without question, they are missing out on sales.  I too might have traded for a new Vision had there been a reason to do so.  With no changes, I'll just keep riding my 2010.  There won't be any additional models released in September, so don't hold your breath.  It is clear to me and others that Polaris's focus is Indian and not Vic.  Having said that, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Vic line, but they shouldn't be setting on their laurels so to speak.

Ok, so we all love the Vision, but I'm not sure it's fair to say a company that puts out this bike is not doing anything

I wouldn't go giving them the (High Five) like they created something amazing.. cause they really didn't create anything.... they just bought someone else's hard work and now call it their own .. http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-polaris-buys-brammo-...

From this article, it sounds like they have intentions of improving the paint offerings but shot themselves in the foot.

Polaris Misses Expectations on Motorcycle Paint Issues--Update

1:24 pm ET July 22, 2015 (Dow Jones) Print
By James R. Hagerty

Companies routinely boast of relentless cost-cutting drives. Scott Wine, chief executive officer of Polaris Industries Inc., spent much of Wednesday morning explaining what he called an excessive attempt to pinch pennies at the maker of off-road vehicles and motorcycles.

Consultants hired by the Minneapolis-based company suggested it should spend $41 million to set up a new painting system at a motorcycle plant in Spirit Lake, Iowa, Mr. Wine said in an interview. Instead, his underlings decided to hold the cost down to $30 million by leaving out some things, such as an infrared dryer. The consultants also recommended allocating three months to work out the system's bugs before putting it into full operation. "We allowed about three hours," Mr. Wine said.

The result was a dysfunctional system that left the company unable to keep up with demand. Efforts to fix that system will add about $20 million of costs this year, Mr. Wine said. For the second quarter alone, those costs worked out to nine cents a share, causing the company to fall short of Wall Street earnings forecasts. The stock was down about 5% early Wednesday afternoon after the company reported a disappointing 4% rise in profit.

"We outsmarted ourselves," Mr. Wine said. "The laundry list of mistakes is staggering." One of them, he said, was that no one told him about the decision to spend $11 million less than the consultants recommended. Mr. Wine said he would have been happy to pay what the consultants thought was needed. One manager involved in the project has left the company, he said.

Without the infrared drying gear, Polaris relied on air blowers. That meant more dust and other particles could spoil paint jobs, requiring costly do-overs, Mr. Wine said. The company, which has diversified into making Victory and Indian motorcycles in recent years, also discovered that motorcycle buyers are much pickier about paint jobs than buyers of its main product, off-road vehicles, which tend to be mud-spattered most of the time. Polaris also underestimated demand for two-tone paint jobs, which require more time and capacity.

For now, Polaris is relying partly on old painting equipment and outsourcing to put the coatings on its motorcycles. Mr. Wine promised to sort out the problems. "I accept responsibility," he said.

Next week, Polaris plans to unveil a new battery-powered motorcycle that it hopes will help change the subject.

Despite the paint woes, the company's second-quarter profit rose to $100.9 million, or $1.49 per share, from $96.9 million, or $1.42 per share, a year earlier. Sales grew 11% to $1.12 billion, partly due to higher motorcycle sales and new products, such as the three-wheeled Slingshot.

The title of this article should be, "When Accountants Make Motorcycle Decisions".  Of course HD isn't any better.  Check this out:

Less than two years after buying MV Augusta an Italian motorcycle manufacturer for $109 million, Harley-Davidson Inc. essentially paid the previous owners to take it back.

Harley recently returned MV Agusta to its Italian owners for 3 euros, or about $3.98, a company spokesman confirmed Monday.

Hell, I would have given them $50 for it!

A dealer told me back in 2012 they had dirt problems in the paint shop. That was why there were some delivery problems that year. I believed him. I looked at a 2012 Cross Country that had 4 dirt spots on the saddle bag lid. Its amazing that it's taken them 15 years to realize motorcycle people a picky about fit and finish. VIctory has had fit and finish problems for a while. I've worked in the automotive industry for years, including dealing with fit and paint quality.

I find it hard to believe that paint application is still considered rocket science. When I was a kid decades ago, I helped paint my brother's car in a Mercedes repair shop. They had filtered air/clean room paint booths with arrays of baking lamps 4 decades ago.

Did industry forget about filtered air and curing paint after decades of experience ?

According to the article, Victory decided to nix the baking in leu of blowers (e.g. more dirt, worse finish).

Indian roadmaster has 5 paint options. Go to specifications and the list is a mile long with a lot of detail. Pick any Victory and look at specs, hardly any description. The Indians still have electronics the Vic's don't.

Test rode the 2016 line up at the rally. Transmission is really good. Click, click, click up and down through all the gears. The radio reception and sound quality on the Vision is really good. The funnest bike to ride was the Vegas. Ergonomics were incredible. The one thing I noticed on the Vegas and Hammer S, was no vibration, whatsoever The Magnum was really comfortable and the sound is something Vision riders dream of. Also no vibration whatsoever .
