| Kpark I'm wondering if you think that they are too loud? Can you still hear the radio without blasting it? |

| Thanks for the info Kpark! I think I have it narrowed down to either the RPW's or the D and D's. There's only one sound bite of the D and D's though so I'm not sure they'll be loud enough. Has anyone heard them? |

| Did they give you plenty of sound? I added the stage 1 kit when I got my XC and well a guy on a espa scooter makes more noise.....Slight exageration but close. I know slip ons won't add much in the way of power but some volume with a touch of power would be great
Thanks

Fountain Inn, SC United States | You might consider doing the mod that many Vision owners are talking about and sounds awesome....replace the stock slip-ons with Thrush glasspacks. Cheap $$, throaty sound.

Here's a few videos:

| Thanks for the idea. I never heard doing that. Do you know if the glass packs are designed for this or just general packs?

I believe they are general-use. You can get them in different lengths and pipe diameters. And they're cheap, like around $28/ea! |

We can offer them to our members here at cross riders for a discount. Send me an email if you are interested.

Posts: 6 MA | I just installed some D&D's on my bike. Quality muffler. Haven't had a chance to road test yet, but I really like the way they sound. If you want a sound bite, go to the D&D website and look under products for the XC/XR, they have one there. |

Posts: 39 Fostoria Ohio USA | I am going with (already ordered) the D&Ds. The 2 videos I have seen online sounded very good, but not window rattling loud. The one reviewer said the quality of the chrome and the welds was excellent and besides that D&D has an excellent reputation and will stand behind their products. They aren't cheap at $630 a pair on Ebay but I guess you get what you pay for. |

Posts: 8 Wellston, Ohio | Quick question, does the bike need to be reflashed or is a fuel controller required to minimize popping on decel? I know once you begin to make mods to your bike you are on the slippery slope of the money pit... |

Posts: 39 Fostoria Ohio USA | I've been down that road called the performance money pit and it's EXPENSIVE!! The bad part is you'll never get a penny for it when the time comes to sell or trade the bike. I would say the most economical route is the reflash at your dealer. Once you get into aftermarket fuel controllers like Power Commanders etc. and dyno time which is high dollar you're already on that slippery slope. It's really a matter of how much performance you are willing to pay for in the end. |

Posts: 8 Wellston, Ohio | I guess my specific question is if I put slip on mufflers on the bike do I HAVE TO reflash or could I get by without? |

Posts: 619 Southeast Iowa | You can get by without a reflash as long as you don't put in a aftermarket air cleaner. If you let more air in you need the reflash to get more gas to mix with it. If you only do pipes the only thing that should change is the sound. |

Posts: 39 Fostoria Ohio USA | Fed Ex just delivered my D&D slip-ons today. I had them installed in about 45 minutes or so, fairly simple. I took my XC for a little spin and they do sound nice. Just a wee bit of popping occasionally on decel but really not bad at all. I guess as long as I run the stock intake I won't even need the reflash. What about the K&N replacemant filter? Just asking. |

Posts: 619 Southeast Iowa | Don't give the bike more air unless you give it more fuel. If you install a K&N or Lloyds air filter you NEED to buy the Victory Stage 1 map, or add some sort of Fuel controller. For $300-$350 you can buy a Power Commander V but you need a decent wrench and a Dyno to build the best fuel map. I think Lloyds has a pre-mapped controller for around $250 no dyno needed. I saw a dyno map yesterday of a CC with a PCV and D&D pipes. It took the HP from 79 to 85 and the TQ from 93 to 100 |

Posts: 39 Fostoria Ohio USA | I got the Stage One flash done and the Stage One filter while my XC was in for the 500 mile break-in oil change. The problem is that Victory and D&D don't share the code for the reflash. Worse yet, you can't get the reflash card without buying the Victory Stage One pipes. My service manager had to take the card out of a boxed set of new Stage One pipes and clear the code with Polaris before he could go ahead and reflash my bike's ECU with it (the card is only good one time). He had to charge me over $160 for the replacement card he needed to put back in the box with the Stage Ones. I could notice the bike had a little more giddy-up to it when I rode it home and it seemed to be better fueled at all speeds and had a bit more pull at lower RPMs. The D&Ds sound sweet but there's still a little popping on decelleration.

Posts: 22 Kokomo, IN | With my 2011 XR, I put RPW pipes, Victory performance air cleaner, Bully fuel processor, and an air-valve from LLoydz. After getting everything tuned in, the bike will still pop/backfire, just not as much. The RPW pipes sound awesome, but I think I'm stuck with the occasional backfire. |
