Subject: XCT Zumo 660 Audio Integration Harness

Just installed the audio integration harness on my 2012 XCT and that thing worked like a charm. GPS overides radio or Iphone while driving for turn by turn prompts. Now just need to order some sena bluetooth helmet speakers with mic to see if possible to answer phone through the GPS.....

I haven't hooked mine up yet. Does it plug into where the ipod usually connects? Were you able to get at it by just removing the headlight? Sorry about the questions but I am a little leary about doing this.

I mounted my 660 directly on dash of inner fairing. Drilled hole and ran wire harness through it. Removed outer faing for ease of running wire and plugging it in to unused existing plug from adio system. My XCT has an Ipod/Iphone harness already in place aswell in the left side hard lower compartment. left that in place as the GPS Audio Intergration Harness plugs in to different location. Regardless of what I am listening too...GPS interupts it to give me turn by turn prompts through speakers. Just make sure te 660 navigational volume settings are turned up to 80-100%

That's the part number I have. Some folks have plugged it into the ipos connector behind the headlight but you lose your ipod that way. It sounds like there is another connector in the fairing so you can still use the ipod. Correct?

NOEMTZ.... I looked in my XC manual to see how to take off the outer fairing and found nothing except how to remove the entire fairing. I do see that the inside (?) of the fairing will probably come off with 4 allen head screws and maybe removing the speaker grills. Help anyone?

To remove the outer fairing...using plastic blade or pry bar...remove speaker grills. Then remove upper/top screw from each side. Then the remaining other screws below..not in..speaker area. three on each side. do not remove the one closest to speaker. Then use plastic prybar for headlight ring, remove 4 screws for headlight, disconnect low and high beam connections, locate and disconnect your signal/blinker wires. If you have tour windshield...you may go ahead and remove it.
Then pull on outer fairing below where headlight opening is...will be a little stuck. once loose, then work the upper area up and out as you have tabs keeping the fairing in place. My wire was on right side, had a small rubber boot on the end of plug, That is where the intergation set up goes connected.
Keep in mind...depending on where and how you are going to run your wire harness. I ran mine directly through the dash panel below windshield by drilling into it. hole just needed to be big enough for plugs to feed through...then rubber grommet seals up hole nicely.

Could you post a couple pictures of it mounted on the dash? I'm thinking of getting a Zumo GPS too, but was just going to mount it on the handlebar, but may be to crowded as I was going to mount my iPhone and maybe a cup holder.

Thanks for the detailed instructions in a couple of your replies, very helpful for us not so mechanically inclined.

Just a FYI...this integrated cable will ONLY work with the zumo 660. It will NOT work with the zumo 665 GPS. I have this integrated cable (on the bike for about an hour) before we realized it will not work (and was confirmed by Garmin). I have this Integrated cable for sale right now in a couple of places.

Hey NOEMTZ,

In your original post, you said:

Now just need to order some sena bluetooth helmet speakers with mic to see if possible to answer phone through the GPS?..

Did you ever do that? If so , what did you find out?

Yep!...works great! Sound is Great...only flaws I found was caller ID displayed on GPS is incorrect. Was told I may get a fix or a patch for that at the next Garmin Zumo update. We shall see. But I am able to scroll through contact or recent calls and dial from their directly on GPS without typing full number in. Oh and also....sometimes my voice dial works, sometimes it does not.

Crap! Back to step 1. I have the 665. Did you hook it up somehow?

Nice clean looking install; just a little nervous about drilling into fairing as there is no turning back if there's a mistake.......will have to think about this vice handlebar mount.

Thanks for the pic.

I used this to integrate my XM and Zumo 550 into the XCT system. Connects to left glove box ipod connection.
