Why would Victory, an all american company, put a horn of their bikes that sounds worse than a import compact car?

That's a great question. Pretty weak isn't it. I took mine off and put an air horn on.

I plan to do the same thing. Just haven't decided which one or where to mount it. I had one on my 08 Vision that I really liked, it was self contained with trumpets. I mounted it under the left side cheese wedge.

Yeah the horn they put on is damn weak to say the least. We too plan to replace it as well.

I agree. When I honk my horn people think there's an old Plymouth Road Runner behind them. Beep! Beep!

what type of horn do you need to get normal car sound or as stated "road runner" sound? is it an air horn or just the type of standard horn

All bikes that I've riden have had terrible horns and Victory is no different. Whenver I buy a bike one of the first things I do is install an air horn, specifically a Stebal Nautius (I know they are out of business but you can still get their horns and if not there are other comparable ones on the market). The only bike I have ever known to have a half decent factory horn is the Goldwing.

Did you have to do anything special in hooking this up? Did you use a relay? If so, can you post up a wiring diagram?

You remove the stock horn and install the relay in its place.

connect the stock horn black wire to post #85 on relay.

connect the grey wire from the stock horn to post #86 on relay

connect wire from battery with a fused link to post #30 on relay

connect wire from positive side of stebel horn to #87 on relay

connect negative side of Stebel horn to ground

I did that exact same thing...only relay is inside fairing. But my flashers blink every time I hit horn button. I must have a bad relay and feeding power back to oem flasher relay. OEM flasher relay is on same circuit as stock horn switch. Gonna get a new relay and see if that cures it.

Noe,
How did you attach the ground wire?
I had the same problem until I ran the ground right off the battery.

All motorcycle horns that I know of are weak?
Motorcyclists need someone to advocate for safety features to be installed/designed on all motorcycles in the USA. Just as there are for automobiles.

Here is my solution for incompetent cagers:
