Subject: Making a Cross Country into Tour

I am interested in buying a used (low mileage) 2011 Cross Country and convert it to a Cross Country Tour. The questions I have are:

Does the 2011 have all the same bells and thistles as the 2012 tour?

I assume I can buy the ) lower fairing & bars, 2) removable trunk (some used 2011 have the truck added aready. Is that it? Has anyone priced out this change?

Tour also has a taller windshield, adjustable wings mounted to upper fairing (just above lower fairing), heated seats, heated grips, low beam is HID, and I think the transmission is slightly different.

So far Lower Cowl - $900, bars $350, Cowling $1700, Saddle Bag protector $350, heated grips $200, heated seat $600... and more

This isn't all and one might need some controls but over $4000 if you do the work yourself. I'll buy a new one for that prices different.

Just in case someone was also thinking about it.

The 2012 Cross Country Tour also has ABS brakes, bag guard rails, and iPod cable in the left glove box (in the lower fairing).

Way cheaper to just buy the CCT ready to go instead of converting just the CC. Plus the time you will save is worth it, That's why we got the XCT.

I'm confused by the "Cowling" part. What did you mean? I added all the stuff to my 2011 CC and I added no cowling- just the lowers and new highway- bars, plus an HID on sale for $60 at Cycle Gear. ALready had all the chrome things and heated grips. Don't think I'll be trying to add the ABS though! :-)

Just occurred to me; if you were thinking converting a Cross Roads then I guess you would need a cowling. But then you would not have to buy the new bars.
Just in case someone was also thinking about it.
