Purchased a 12 CC 6 weeks ago and ordered the Victory Backrest and Backrest mount at time of purchase. It has been on backorder and the dealership said Victory instructed them to refund my money as it will remain on backorder for the foreseeable future.

Any suggestions on aftermarket mounting brackets and backrest that will attach to the victory heated seat?

Regards,
Whiskeygut

My original post didn't specify but I am looking for the Drivers backrest and mount. Do you have the Drivers backrest and mount, or are you referring to the Passenger backrest and luggage rack?

Whiskey,

Utopia Products also makes a rider's backrest for the Cross Country. I have one on my XCT, which has the heated seat. I think it's better than the Victory backrest, and less expensive, too. www.utpr.com

Was told today that Victory issued a letter to all dealers...Driver backrest and mounts are on permanent back order. Their supplier pulled out on them from what I heard. BUMMER

I have the KewlMetal rack on my XR. It's awesome and I also have the KewlMetal backrest that adjusts for the rider or passenger. Link: http://www.kewlmetalstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_627&product...

Pulled the trigger on the Utopia drivers backrest. It is to be made the middle of July. Once I get it on the bike, I'll update the group with how the install is and how I like it.

Is the Utopia backrest easy to remove? It's difficult to tell based on their site. I look forward to hearing Whiskey's review as I'm interested myself.

I too have been waiting for a while for my factory backrest. I e-mailed Victory giving them my model and year (2012 CXT) and asked when they would be shipping. They replied that they needed my vin#, the dealer name, number, and the name of my sales person. Really ticked me off. I called them and told them "they didn't need any of that to answer my question". The lady said she would have to call me back (which she did in about 1/2 hour). Told me that they were on back order for ??? and that was all she knew . I told her I understand stuff happens but I asked her to pass on to the powers to be that some customers are older and have bad backs. I drank the cool-aid and spent $20,000.00 on a bike and really wanted to keep it all "Victory". I feel the customer deserves a bit more effort in answering the question. I cancelled my order, then called Utopia and ordered what looks like a better backrest anyway. Victory's loss. It's a real shame that today's manufacturers still blow off the customer even in hard times. I would have probably accepted the truth no matter what the answer is. At the very least, they could have told me 2 months ago about the back order situation. Better yet they could have directed me to Utopia instead of me having to find them myself. Kind of spoils the new bike mood.

Just received my Utopia backrest yesterday for my 2012 XCT, only took 3 weeks to get (because they make them as they are ordered, so big deal), and Victory's backrest can't even come close, and Utopia's is much less expensive, and much higher quality.

Victory has left a bad taste in my mouth as far as their accessories, the length of time it takes to get them, the price, and customer service (or should I say, lack of).

I think they need to get a grip on customer service too.

The deal with my bike was that it came with
Heel Shifter
Driver back Rest
Passenger Grab Handles
3 weeks and still waiting. Thats not good enough service. We try and try to support American and what do you get in return for purchasing a very over priced bike?????? Crappy service...

How about this..
I dropped in to the dealer and said that the ticking noise comming from the motor make me think it needs to be adjusted its real loud....
They said put loud pipes on it!!!!

And people piss on Harley`s - looks to me that Victory is Racing in the same direction. We have your money so pls go away......

Just got my Utopia backrest today. Took all of about 10 minutes to install. Looks good, feels good. Seems to be well made. Ordering was easy and it arrived on the day promised. Screw Victory and their forever on back-order backrest!

Installed Utopia with the optional quick out mount on my 2012 Cross Country Tour. Installation took all of 10 minutes, just replace the passenger seat hold strap and replace with the mount using half inch socket. Quick out will make removal of seat quicker. With standard mount will have to remove pad in order to pull seat off the bike.

Very happy with the set up ~ comfortable and very sturdy. Their web site is www.UTPR.com
