Sold my 650 V-Strom and got a 2012 CCT. Man does this thing put out the heat on a 100 degree day. Much more than my previous V-strom, 05 Goldwing, or 01 Nomad. Any suggestions on heat management? I took off the lower crash bar vent/cover things and that seemed to make a big difference. Looks better too. I don't have a I-pod to plug in so no big loss there. What else are you guys doing to beat the heat.

It sure does. On my ride home in the afternoon, or on weekend rides, I just open the lower fairing vents, and the upper deflectors. It wasn't too bad on my way over to Phoenix/Flagstaff awhile back, but then again it wasn't like my ice cold A/C in my Santa Fe.

I agree. Just went from a vtx to the xct. The vtx never put off that much heat even when the fan ran. I did find if I closed the lowers by a third it re-directed the air off of me better. I read about a deflector for the oil cooler to re-direct the heat to under the bike but I've not seen one yet.

Took another ride without the lower crash bar covers on and that is the way to go. Much more comfortable. Also, Victory makes a set of covers that snap over the crash bars for cold weather. Can roll them up and put in the saddle bag for a cold morning or rainy day, then snap them off when it warms up again. I'm picking mine up this week-end. I do miss the storage space in the lowers but a small price to pay. The vents on the faring work twice as good now and actually blow air on the inside of my leg keeping engine heat away.

The CCT is cool compared to a Vision................a Vision is cool compared to an HD Ultra Glide. All Big Twins make heat and more wind protection equals greater engine heat.

Picked up the crash bar covers (Victory calls them "Close-outs" last week-end. They are just what I hoped for. Reasonable price, they block almost as much wind when cold or rainy, are simple to velcro on and off, and they can be rolled up small into the saddlebag when the weather turns hot. The way to go.

I rather have hot balls than have a leather mud flap hanging off the side of my seat............I just couldn't see one of those on my bike.

Ride a Vision without lowers then get back with me about the heat. I traded it in on a XC and its nowhere to the heat of the Vision
