I have a 2012 cross counrty tour. Not all the time ,but more often then not my bike back fires during a shift, it will do it under light acceleration or under hard acceleration. My bike is stock with no modifications, also have a engine chug under load and low rpm, I have tried several kinds of fuel with no change. any ideas.

My '08 vision "popped" when shifting the entire time I owned it, my '12 XCT does it also but not nearly as often. As for the "chugging" at low RPM and under load, it is the nature of the beast due to the firing order of V-twin engines.

you have an exhaust leak somewhere. most likely it is a exhaust gasket that is pinched or improperly seated at the head. It should be under warranty so tell the dealer you have issues with it.
