Please help me avoid an awkward situation.

I am trying to talk a friend off the HD ledge before drinks the kook aide.  He is currently bike less.  He sold his Yamaha Royal Star Venture last year and wants another touring bike.  He has informed me he doesn't like the " futuristic" looks of my Vision and wants the classic look of a Harley.  No offense taken, but I did tell him about the CCT and he was intrigued enough to let me call my dealer and arrange for a test drive next week.

My question is what is a good deal on a 2013 Cross Country Tour?  It's MSRP is $22,499.  I told my friend that when I bought my Vision Tour Premium new in 2009, the MSRP was $21,499.  I offered $18,000 and the Dallas dealer took it.  $3,500 off MSRP!

I want my friend to get a good deal and at the same time I'm trying to bring business to my local dealership.  I'm sort of the middle man and I don't want to lead my friend into over paying for a bike should he fall in love with it.

$1,500 off?

$2,000 off?

More?

 What's fair?

Thank you

Sometimes timing is everything. Victory at different times offers incentives and rebates. I bought a 13 CCT on the 15th of April for $19032. It was so reasonable I even sprung for the 3 year extended warranty for $400. more. There was a $750. rebate on it that ended that day though.

Don't be afraid to make a low ball offer. Dickering can be very rewarding.

I bought my 2012 CCT, and got $5k on my 2009 VStar 950 Tour + I scratched and clawed another $750 out of them + another $250 in Store Credit for gear for my wife. I believe the MSRP was $21,495.00.

I just purchased a 2013 CCT. Factory and dealer discounts of $4600 brought the price down to $18,499. I thought it was a good price.

The reality is that Victory's can be bought for "as much as" 18% off list price depending on (1) the time of year (Dec -> March are the deepest discounts) & (2) The dealer's willingness to discount (Some dealers tend to hold firm at certain points whereas others try to move a lot of inventory). That is pretty much it. If you see something NEW with a greater discount than that it is most likely due to other issues such as foreclosure, damaged, mis-priced or even outright fraud (e.g. The advertiser isn't actually an authorized "Victory Dealer" but might have bought a salvage and calling themselves a Victory "Dealer" simply because they sell motorcycle) so be careful dealing with those

I bought my 2012 Pearl White XCT from a private party with 3000 miles on it. 14,500. He was a little guy and had dropped it. Just got my warranty papers back with the transfer. I'm happy!
