I have looked at Metzler, Bridgestone, Avon, Continental and Michelin website for rear tires for my XCT. I only found 2 that met the specs: 180/60R16 80H. I did find a Metzler 180/60R16 but it only was rated 74H. All I found that met the specs was the Dunlop E3 and the Avon Cobra.

AM I missing something here?

Thanks,

I got 18K on the E3's and was a diehard Metzler guy. Needless to say went with the Dunlop E3

I have never achieved 18,000 miles on the rear tire of any bike or any brand of tire. Usually what happens is I have a trip coming up and I change the tire early before the trip so that I don't have to deal with a tire change during the trip.

Has anybody tried the Shinko SE890 Journey Touring radial on their Cross Country?

I just put a new rear tire on my 2012 XCT and I stayed with the Dunlop E3 because of the load rating. The E3 has an 80H load rating and the Bridgestone and Shinko only have a 74H load rating. On a bike as heavy as the XCT riding 2 up with the bags and tour pack full I wanted the extra load rating of the E3. I know they use the Bridgestone and the Shinko on Goldwing GL1800 but again, the 80H is a much higher load rating than the 74H. Just my opinion.

How in the world are you riders getting that kind of mileage from the E3's? I've got a 2012 XR that just turned 7,500 miles and my tire guage, a penny, tells me I'll be lucky to get 8K out of them. What am I doing wrong? I do keep a close watch on my tire pressures. We ride a lot in the mountains of N.Ga., Tn., and N.C..

18K out of rear tire???? I have never done better than a little over 10K. I might ride a little harder than some but nothing that unusual. Most riding is mixed between flat and curvy, long runs and short runs alike. I check tire pressure weekly and never run them much past the wear bars
