Started hearing a light snapping sound when I apply the front brake. Started looking for the cause and found a crack in the front (painted) section of the front fender. About 1/2" long running up from the upper left mounting bolt. My repair to a similar problem with the rear section appears to be holding up fine. Heading out in 2 days for 2500 mile ride with no time to repair it before I leave.

Very thin coat of clear acrylic nail polish will get you thru the trip easy and will never be seen. Ride safe

Try just removing the whole fender and riding. Thats what I did when mine broke and I was out on the road. There wasn't any adverse affects on handling. I've since installed a Drag Specialties tire hugger series fender.
I just had to make some spacers to get the new fender to fit.

Thanks for the reminder on the nail polish temporary repair.

Will probably end up looking at the fender replacement options. Could end up on the Christmas wish list.

Washer isn't an option since the aux. driving lights use the same mounting bolts, but thanks.

Leaving tomorrow for Minnesota - watch for the Baltimore Raven wedges.

So you have aux driving lights installed where the crack is. Makes me think you over tighten which lead to the crack.
