Does anyone know how I can find out how many pre-production silver motors are out there on the Vision only. I have a pre-production 08 Vision which has the Silver color Freedom 106 motor. The Silver motor was scrapped in favor of the Black motor. All Visions in production 08 and newer would have the black motor. Old timers from Spirit Lake might know some information. Thanks. PS: I don't want info. on the 05's, 06's, 92s or 100 freedom, etc. They had the production Silver motor. Only Vision was to have the Black engine once it went to production.

rather rude about your asking. You could call or write Victory. Is there a Vin number on the motor.
I asked a friend that had a 07 vision and he was at the fairgrounds when they unveiled them he had never heard of one. Guessing it was one of the prototypes that was made for display.
The motor would of been assembled in Osceola Wi.
Was there a name of previous owner on title when you bought it and what state

LOL, you crack me up sometimes JV

I don't know a thing about this but that's a really interesting bike you've got. As if the Vision isn't unique enough, you've got a even niquer one!!

Not sure how many... but my '08 SSG has the silver engine. Not a pre-production bike to my knowledge or that was ever brought up to me. I bought it as new in Dec 2009. I like the silver engine with the gray, you can see pics of it in the Gallery.

I agree with you the silver engine does look good on the silver Vision. It's is a rare Vision indeed.

Another pic of the silver engine on an 08 Vision. Can't seem to be able to upload.

Wondering if the motor has numbers stamped into it.
I know the first prototype frame was sand casted in Plymouth MN.

down towards the bottom you can see floorboards with what looks like silver motor http://www.bikernet.com/pages/Victory_Vision_Preview_2007.aspx

more silver

ok i have to ask.. aside from just being non-painted. was there a advantage to the silver motor? i mean, aside from just being different ?

No difference...just different. And looks super good on the SSG, at least on mine. But it is painted, its painted gray. I know because mine is starting to flake off near the heads. Maybe that is a benefit, when the gray starts flaking, it's hard to tell since it is similar in color to the metal. If black starts flaking it may be more obvious. lol
