I kinda like it. I hope it will not remain as a prototype just like the Neowing.

New Orleans, La,
The new Wing is here and the run down is as follows. The engine is all new single OHC with 4 valves per cylinder. The cam directly operates the intake valves and rocker arms operate the exhaust. The starter and alternator are one unit and the engine bore and stroke are square at 73x73 and displacement is now 1833 not 1834. The engine was moved forward because the bore centers were moved closer also the driver moved forward increasing forward weight bias which improved handling and stability.. Because the engine is more efficient and the bike is lighter, by 90lbs. in the lightest model, the fuel capacity has been dropped to 5.5 gals.. Honda claims the same range due to a claimed 42 mpg.. The front suspension is the Japanese version of BMW'S parameter front in and all of its' inherent advantages. Drive by wire with a host of driving modes and rider aids along with Apple Play for entertainment. Honda finally broke down and fitted the Wing with an electric windshield and the trunk is now removable like all the other big tour rigs. The only problem is that it takes 4 hers. auto remove/replace the trunk. The big Wing now has electronically adjustable suspension on the rear. The Wing also lost 40 liters of storage in the transformation process, although it is still noteworthy at 110 liters. The manual transmission has 6 speeds and the starter assist reverse and the very new DCT has 7 speeds with a creep mode that goes forward and reverse ala Yamaha Venture except it is push button engage and activate. Honda seems to have covered all of the bases with this latest iteration and it is also the lightest with weights from 787-863.

Reducing the tank to 5.5 gallons is weird.

Yeah. Part of the weight reduction program I suppose. As is the luggage space reduction. And reduced passenger seating area. And no built in intercom. My GW riding friends are already bitching about that one. If the new Goldwing can't match the 270 mile (average) range of the old one, they aren't going to be happy about that either. I've already heard grumblings about the reduced luggage capacity from my friends. That's one of the very few things they could gloat about in comparison to my Vision, and now it will be the same as my Vision.

It looks to me like Honda is going after the BMW market.

Early reports are claiming 124 horsepower at the crankshaft. If true, that will equate, at best, to about 110 at the wheel. At 50 pounds lighter weight than a Vision Tour, that would be equal performance to a Vision with cams and a good tune.
