I lost my best friend yesterday.

She was the greatest friend, full of unconditional love that I ever had.

She was there though my divorce.

She was there at my darkest hour.

She was there as the bikes came and went.

She was there as I got married again to the greatest woman that I ever met.

She is gone now and with her a great portion of my heart.

I’m having a rough time now.

I miss her so much!

My wife loved her too and she in hurting as well.

When we loose a pet that is not just a dog but also

a vital member of my family, it’s like loosing a child.

The pain that I feel is just a shadow of the joy that she

brought into my life.

Sigh! Gromit, I miss you!

Your loving friend Van.

Thanks for leting me share this.

Mongo,
Someone gave me this when I had to say goodbye to my best friend - Hope it helps!

If it should be I grow frail and weak
And pain prevents my peaceful sleep,
Then you must do what must be done
When this battle can"t be won.

You will be sad,I understand.
Selfishness might stay your hand.
But on this day, more than rest,
Your love and friendship take the test,

We've had so many happy years
That what's to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer. So,
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only- stay with me to the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know, in time you to will see
Its kindness that you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Do not greive should it be you
Who must decide this thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years...
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
Randy

Sorry for your sad loss. I was afraid to click on this one, I knew it was going to be sad. Time will hopefully heal, and the happy memories are there to sustain you, where right now they may hurt.... eventually they will help.

Its ok to be sad. You cant fix normal.

I love my little dog like a child too, and man, do I feel the pain for you. Take it as slow and easy, and think of the great times you had together. You are lucky to have had that in the first place.

I am deeply sorry for loss. When i lost my my best pal 6 years ago, it still hurts to this day. But boy my new best buddy was 4 just last week and he sure helps fill that void. It's amazing to me how they can each be so different, but damn they still give you them same GREAT feelings. So from myself and my pals Shadow and Brady we are sorry....

Sorry for your loss Mongo. I know what you're going through having just lost my black lab of 12 years just over 2 weeks ago on my birthday. Passed away in his sleep so he didn't suffer I assume. I have been cursed this past year. Lost my wife of 30 years back in Oct. of '08 and then lost my dad in May of '09 and now my dog. I'm beginning to think people are starting to avoid me, afraid the bad luck will rub off I guess. But I'm taking it all in stride and one day at a time.

As one who has lost several dogs ( I still have one in my garage in an urn that I pet on occasion), go now and buy another.

Not to replace the one you lost, but to bring new joy to your heart and soul.

Thank you for all of your kind words. You all are exceptional gentlemen.  A special note to atvtinker Look to the Lord and read the word. The Book of Job would a good start as well as Daniel.

Isaiah 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5-But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Psalm 91:  1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.  3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.  4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;  6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.  7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.  8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.  9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;  10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.  11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.  12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.  13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.  14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.  15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.  16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Sorry that you have to go through what you need to go through, Van. Thank God that you can find some comfort in scripture.
I am 69 years old and have had only three dogs. The pain of losing them is almost too much to bear. I think that sometimes God allows us to suffer so that we will understand how Christ suffered here on earth, that we might have a right relationship with God for eternity.

There are no tears in heaven, but don't rush it.

I am so sorry to here of your loss, it is just 2 wks shy of my wifes passing and I don't know if I could have gotten through it without my two cats who were always there when I needed them with that unconditional love that dosent care if you are black or white, fat or skinny ugly or good looking or even if you ride a harley or a Victory. They just simply Love you! just remember that because that love forever lives inside you and inriches your life forever.
