Northern California | Has anyone replaced their stock speakers with Kickers? If so, what is involved in replacing the speakers. I noticed that it would be difficult to replace just by removing the grill.

Tucson , AZ | You have to remove the wing... the speaker are mounted from the rear.. after that a peice of cake. You need the rings to install larger speaker. Check with Kevin x he has a documentary on the install. said it was a big difference. We are adding speaker , amp , and sub to our rt now. We have plans to offer a new lid for the bags with speaker pods to mount speakers. Will be out late this year. |

| If you are installing the Kicker, you don't need to remove anything except the grill. Grill just snaps out exposing the speaker area. You need to to find the right angle to get speakers out. Allen head bolts are little pain to remove, but doable. Do your self a favor, purchase set of 16mm bolts from Lowes before you start. Kicker housings are little thicker and you'll find easier to install the new one. Also, you may want to cut the allen key to better access the bolts. Took me 45min. |

I think so but I've also read about some people who have some hearing loss in certain ranges that didn't find the upgrade to be all that great.
Best thing is to 6.5" speakers using adapter rings (Cyclesound or Biketronics) and a suitable amp. Bigger speakers with more push seems to get 'er done.
Some people change out the rear speakers but since I can't really hear them anyway; I'm leaving mine alone. Passengers say they can hear them just fine. If I turn my head sideways I can hear the rear speakers. It's a little odd but that's how it works for me. |

Tucson , AZ | HMD now offers upgraded 6.5" speaker rings for the XC. If you want to upgrade your speakers... but want to use your own speakers, we have just the ring. No need to buy a speaker package. Big difference in sound when going from 5.25" to a 6.5" speaker. |

Fountain Inn, SC United States | There's also been long discussions on different amps (if you are inclined to upgrade) on the Vision-Riders forum but the big sonic difference will come from better/bigger speakers.
