When I travel, I carry it in my pocket.

I keep a 'peeled'key, just the blade, in my wallet, 'but what if someone steals your wallet?' do it and try to figure out what a key blade with no manufacturers I.D. on it fits.
Used to carry a spare trunk key in my wallet when I had a GM sedan and a spare ignition key on a ring in the cars trunk along with a spare front door key, if I locked my keys in the car, the trunk key spare let me in the car, and if I lost or dropped my keys I could drive the car home and get into the house-you gotta learn to think ahead

I carry a spare on all vehicles. I hot glue a rare earth magnet to the key. The hiding places then become endless on most vehicles. Since the Vision is mostly aluminum and plastic I had to look a little harder to find places to stick the magnet, but there are still plenty of them.

Since Visions are so few, I'm not giving up my hiding place on a public forum. However, to demonstrate the power of a quality rare earth magnet, I stick a spare car key to the rear of the oil pan. It hasn't moved in 6 years.

Good luck finding your ideal hiding spot.

I never leave home without the spare keys to: the bike, the disc lock, the helmet locks, the door to my RV, the front door of my SO's house, etc, etc

I always zip tie a spare key to somewhere on the frame - in the Vision's case this is in the area of the open cavity around the front wheel.

Ziptie thru key to frame.....wrap in electrical tape. You cant even tell its there.

I got one of these from my local locksmith

http://www.amazon.com/Pouch-Hider-Large-Size-91401/dp/B000KFSZ0C/re...

(as well as a dup key using the Kawasaki KW-14 blank....total cost for the key $6.50 including the cutting!!). The Key holder is a nice flexible material and uses velcro to stay in place. The pouch is also thin so you can place it almost anywhere. I placed it under the panel below the windshield. The panel is easy to remove if you know how and no one will find that key but you guys! LOL

I only care about a spare when traveling out of town, then I too request to SO to carry
it.

I have a digital guard dawg security system on my 2012 and previous Visions. There fore I ride keyless and the key and the fob for the security system is in my pocket. No problems at all, kill 2 harleys at one time so to speak.

The poor design of our ignition switch key you only have a single key so when you get off the bike witch pocket do you put it in or did you miss your pocket and drop it on the ground. Did some one pick it up and is looking for a lost biker wondering around looking for there key.
I wish vic would of used a ignition like the old chevys were you only need a key to lock it. I'm not regimented enough to put my key in the same place twice so hiding a key on the bike is a good deal. If you only need it once its better then the hassle that will come if you loose yours.

Yeah....how much it would suck to be 5 or 6 days of solid riding away from home and realize you lost your key somehow.

If your using the Vision as intended you could be along way from home and loose your key. Id rather just whip out my pocket knife and cut the spare off the bike then throw the stops to a major vacation.

Could a dealership cut you a spare based on VIN? Even so, the dealership network isnt the best and could mean your still going to have to rent a car, trailer your bike.....who knows.

Boyscout say.....carry spare key.

I keep a key hidden on my bike......BUT I'm not gonna tell you where LOL. Ever since almost losing a key 5hrs from home I now hide a key for "just in case ". I also keep one hidden on my work van after accidently getting locked out of it.

I've got a motorcycle alarm on mine that disables the bike, so a key is redundant and will only serve to strand me if I loose it. I keep a spare in the cheese wedge and if I loose my alarm fob, there is a code I can enter to turn it off. I won't give you that though.

I'd leave the key in it all the time, but that may be too tempting. I want to design a key that looks like part of the dash itself. So you would not know it's actually in, maybe one that looks like the top of the key lock, so it would just look like the lock sticks up a little higher than normal.
