Lloyd just posted on FaceBook. The addition of a new cam grind. The VM1-HPT-DR, this cam will make over 125 RWHP with stock heads.

I too have the original VM-1 cams, makes 115.5 RWHP. Seems there's always something new in development at Lloyds, I'm happy that he continues to improve the high performance options for us............Now what about that supercharger ???? Hmmmm ????

I have been bummed out that I haven't had the time or money to get mine done despite having a $500 VIP card sitting at Kevin's shop for me. At least now I feel a little better. Sorry to those guys that just had cams done.

They're great if you want the big HP numbers but I'd rather have the torque down low. The regular VM1 cams give you that torque. Check out Lloyd's graphs with VM1-DR cams paying attention to the 2000 - 3000 rpm where we spend most of our riding time.

Here's a stock exhaust 106 Vision with VFC and VM1-DR cams:

Here's a S1L1 106 Vision with just VIP and VM1-DR cams:

Great numbers for hp and torque with stock heads but, is whole increase the result of just cams in a OEM engine? If so than I'm even more impressed and disappointed that I didn't wait another month.

Are there any other mods needed, like stronger valve springs?

I read his Facebook post. He mentioned that these cams shouldn't be used on frame bikes. Not sure why...

The way those graphs look, I would say anyone would still be pleased. And even more so because the torque curve is flatter when you are rolling on the throttle without having to downshift at cruising speeds. This is the range I would prefer my torque to be so that I wouldn't have to be downshifting around the 60 to 65mph range to pass a Goldwing. He! He! He! I wonder if the dyno run was with the stock exhaust? Stealth is everything!

I'm scheduled to go next week Friday 4/5/2013 and talked to Danny on possibly having these on hand before I get there? He is not certain they will have them by then, so I will have to call him the day before to make sure he has them in stock as it makes sense to just wait for the new ones when you are going to pay the same price!!! Also isn't it my understanding that Lloydz adjustable timing system should take care of the low end torque? Cause I will be getting that installed as well? I'm looking forward to all my add ons!!!!

Because the Vision intake along with Lloydz adjustable intake system (basically a short velocity stack) recovers more of the lost bottom end torque than could be salvaged on any other Victory. Even with those benefits, you can still see a loss in low end TQ on the graph.

Even with the VM-1 cams, there is a loss of low end TQ. Compare the graphs posted above at 2500rpm with a stage 1 Vic running Ness Honkers and just the intake plate (no cams). With cams, TQ at 2500rpm is around 95lb/ft. Without cams, TQ at 2500rpom is closer to 105lb/ft! Almost a 10lb/ft increase at low rpm without the cams!

It's only at 3500rpm and higher that the VM-1 cams shine....

People shouldn't be surprised: If you gain HP with a cam that uses more lift and duration you will always loose something on the bottom end. Hot Rodders have been dealing with this for years, they usually try to compensate with more compression, this picks up the bottom end a little. That is an option but adds to expense ( Labor, new pistons and rings ). Timing changes can help a little also...... It's always a choice. This cam seems to leave a little on the table down low (2000-2800 rpm) But after 3000 outperforms the VM-1 all the way to 6200 rpm. Really a nice job..........

But, if you are going off of the charts posted in this thread, you are not comparing just the two different cams. The new cam is WITH the timing wheel (advanced presumably) AND the adjustable intake stack! The VM-1 cam graphs above are WITHOUT either of those two devices added! I can tell you first hand that when I added the intake stack, I could feel some reclamation of lost TQ; and the timing wheel gave me even a little more back! Of the two, I would have to say the intake stack made more of a difference. I'm still below the 2500 rpm TQ that I had without the cams, but it's closer now.

Hmmmm - I had my VM1 cams installed and did not notice any difference in low-end TQ. Just had a huge smile on my face for the longest time. You know the smile like the Joker. I had Lloydz ECU installed the same time so maybe this helped. Either way, the CAMS were the best upgrade ever!! When I get a new Vision, the Ness Vision (okay I'm dreaming right now). My first upgrade will be the CAMS!!!

The regular VM-1 's would be a less expensive option, you don't need the torque tubes or adjustable cam timing wheel. But 10 extra horsepower and not much loss on bottom might be worth the extra money..........

@kris1956 - If you don't already have the original VM1s, I'd get the new ones. Why give up 10HP? If you already have the originals, I am not sure for the cams and install price if it is worth it for 10HP.

When I'm ready for cams (probably next year), I want whatever combination gives me the most torque down low where I'll use it. I've ridden V Twins for a few years and still can't get used to shifting at a higher rpm.

I;m thinking along the lines of Monkeyman, I'll put the timing wheel on regardless of which cams I go with. Still thinking about the tubes.

Will be ordering the new VM-1 HP cams this week along with timing wheel and valve springs required for the higher lift cam. Once installed I will let all know the difference and post a dyno sheet overlay with my current configuration. It now makes 115.5 HP and 117.2 Tq.
