Just returned from a one week trip that included 4 IBA rides and a stop at Mount Evans, Death Valley and Pikes Peak.

The rides -

1 - Milwaukee to Idaho Springs, CO

2 - The top of Mount Evans to Badwater, Death Valley. The highest point in the country to the lowest in less than 24 hours.

3 - Badwater, Death Valley to Ely, NV, Independence Pass and the top of Pikes Peak

4 - Cascade, CO to Milwaukee

This photo was taken in Badwater, Death Valley at 4:10 am (6:10 central), 96 degrees and 1065 miles traveled from Mount Evans.

Way to go Steve!

We were out in the Southwest the end of May. We did Petrified Forest, Sedona, South & North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Bryce National Park , Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, Million Dollar HWY, Pikes Peak, Cripple Creek,Valley of the Gods then back to Wisconsin but it took us two weeks.

I tip my hat to you but that kind of trip is not for me. I remember when we purchased our first new travel trailer. I wanted to do so much that on our first trip we went to the New Hampshire race. After the race we ran to Moosehead Lake for two days, Acadia National for three days, and over to Portland, Maine for two than raced home. That was about 18 years ago. I later realized that I never fully enjoyed those destinations cause I did not stay long enough. We returned to Acadia and stayed for 10 days and really soaked up the experience. Before I wanted to be able to say that I had traveled to a place, now I want to relax and enjoy my vacation time. But the best part is the we bought a toy hauler 3 years ago and now I get to combine all of my passions, traveling, camping and riding. There is simply nothing better for me.

as for IB rides. I have loved my ironbutt rides. The West ride I did that included a Bunburner Gold last year changed my life (or ruined it because now , all I do is dream/talk about going out West HAHA)! The Ironbutts help me save money on lodging , have adventure on a dime, and save vacation days for the family. I get to see so many things. Essentially, ironbutts make possible, trips I would normally only daydream about . The BBG made that trip logistically and financially possible as my other ironbutt rides did. Without the IB rides, I would have to stay on lifes porch. A man has a built in need to test himself. Good on you for getting "off the porch" Steve. Also, my IB rides serve as scouting rides. I can check out destinations for future family or 2-up "stop and smell the roses" trips.

I must admit that I never looked at it that way. Thanks for explaining the way you mind works. I can respect that.

Nice!

My philosophy: Young riders pick a destination and go. . . Old riders pick a direction and go

2 summers ago, we got all prepped to go to Alaska. Sky was black to the NORTH and blue to the SOUTH. We did the Oregon Coast ...
