Polaris/Indian is coming out with an 111 engine for 2014.

I wonder if they will be offering a 111 or 116 engine for the Victory lineup ???

There have been statements about a "new" Victory powerplant, it most certainly won't be the Indian 111, that motor is a pushrod two valve design and specifically for the Indian line. I'm hoping for a 114 to 116 inch OHC V-Twin with water cooled heads AND Keep the finning ala, BMW, Harley Davidson and soon Moto Guzzi. Either that or a V four for the Vision similar to a V-Max with a longer stroke in the 104-108 inch range. Yes I'm dreaming again........

... that motor is a pushrod two valve design, about three decades behind the current Victory Freedom 106. ........

I saw their advertisement picts and wondered if it really is a PUSHROD design, or just PUSHROD cosmetics.  The ad says it "pays tribute" to the Indian Engine.  I wonder if if it is different on the inside and just cosmetics on the outside ???

I also saw one of the liquid cooled Harley Ultra's yesterday.  Radiators are in the left and right lowers.

XRsteve - 2013-08-31 12:31 PM...a V four for the Vision...

I won't buy another Vision but I think it would be a bad choice to put any wide motor in the Vision.  One of the features drawing riders to the Victory touring bikes is the leg room.  Disturb that legroom wiwth a wide motor and you might as well buy a Gold Wing.

Yep, even the Cross Country and Cross Roads are wider between the knees with the wider tank configuration.

Having a wide tank is a whole lot different than having 2 more cylinders in the way. I can comfortably ride an X bike. Not so much a Gold Wing as I can't move my feet/legs around on a Wing due to the width of the motor.

It's a pushrod motor allright, I've seen the exploded view engine and although they are straight, they are pretty damn long pushrods. Maybe longer than a HD TC. The heads disguise the length of the pushrods. The tubes are short and fat looking like a side valve engine.

Guess based on a couple of factors....
1) Vic did a survey a couple years back, and several of the bikes were badged as 112
2) Current Architecture can be brought out to 112 with no great change. Any bigger would require sleeves or a new case design. Case design would be costly and time consuming, and as of yet sleeves have not proven terribly reliable in Vic motors.

I just bought a new Vision because it is air cooled, narrow, and has the low rumble Big twin exhaust note. The heat bothered me until I installed the lower wind deflectors which work great. The simple, reliable power plant, lots of leg room and styling which separates it from the HD lookalikes also make it the most comfortable, best handling bike I've owned, and this my 51st bike. Instead of more cubic inches, I would like a smoother tranny two more inches of windshield travel, and a good center stand.

Congrats on your new purchase.  You will have to post some picts of your new ride.

What model year did you get?

I wouldn't mind more ci's, maybe if they build a model for towing a larger trailer, but this is OK for me. Heck, it's a bigger engine than several cars I've owned!

I agree. I'm sure they could get tighter clearances with water cooled, I just don't think it is necessary. Adds more weight and more complexity, fixing something that isn't broken.

I've gotten used to the transmission, and now, oddly, find that solid 'CLUNK' comforting.
But yes, two more inches of windshield (up and down, 4" total) would be great!

2013 Blacker. I call it the "WASP". Local stealer had a discounted price I could not pass up and I got the law enforcement discount as well. My Kingpin has it's own enjoyable features and identity but the wife is much happier with the Vision. My son is lickin his chops and saving his money to buy the Kingpin (which I will discount to him as well) so we can all enjoy our Victory rides together.

Just curious why you would call a dealership that gave you a fair, and discounted price a "stealer" Not like he tried to screw you

this is what i think is INTERESTING about this indian 111ci vs the Freedom engine in terms of technology.. Especially when this info is coming from the manufacture ...

look at this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eucd3SYf5mI now they DONT mention the indian motor... but they do mention abut the technology differences and why they did what they did on the Freedom motor.

I think what's really gonna be interesting is how much HP the 111 makes compared to a 106. I know Indian is claiming 119.2 ft lbs @ 3000 rpm but is that at the crank or rear wheel ?? Even if we give them rear wheel power that's equal to 68.08 HP @ 3000 rpm. I got a feeling like all narrow angle V twins fed by a single throttle body through a Y manifold and 2 valve heads that airflow will drop off pretty fast after 4300 rpm. Especially one that is pretty undersquare at 101mm X 113mm on the bore and stroke. They say it feels strong on test rides but so would any Harley engine that has almost a 4 1/2" stroke. When Cycle World does a full test and does a dyno evaluation I'll be surprised if it makes more than 89 RWHP..........And remember a cam change to a two valve engine is not gonna give you 30 extra HP like it does on our 106's.......

Bigger engines, bigger engines. Sorry I just enjoy the stories from the older timers I meet riding to Sturgis. They tell how they rode their 650 and slept on the side of the road. Think of all the flat tires and mechanical problems they had along the way. Jump to today and so many people want big engines and then trailer the bike?
Maybe it's in line with the guys that get all worked up when I talk about mowing lawns with an 8HP Wheel Horse for years?
America, freedom of choice.

Yeah, I hear ya, I was one of those guys back in the old days, riding Ironhead Sportsters and Shovelhead rigids back and forth to Florida from N.C. Yeah we always had about ten pounds of tools in a tool pouch, spark plugs, points, condensors, exrta headlight and tail light bulbs. Once in a while a mirror or shifter peg would vibrate enough to fall off. And yeah sleeping bags strapped to the handle bars. It's fun to talk about now but I sure am glad our modern bikes don't have those problems, AND oh yeah I don't really miss kick starting either..........
