Every bike forum has discussions about waving/not waving to other riders.

It just dawned on me today that the guys here at work that ride but never wave to anyone other than their own brand are also the same guys who never even make eye contact when you pass them in the hallway.  That explains a lot.  Can't believe it took me this long to notice.

Quite an observation Songfan. I wave at anyone, even trike riders and scooter riders. Heck we are all out there enjoying the ride aren't we?

I believe it is in their HD handbook / owners manual to treat others like that! They also have a training refresher course to maintain their inconsiderate demener.

ahhh, the wave debate has risen again... Wave, no way, it's unsafe, keep both hands on the handle bars at all times except when using hand and arm signals. That's the law and I'm sticking to it as I text this message while riding....................................................................

When I go grocery shopping I wave at all the other men who are pushing carts.
It's a brotherhood thing.

Ya biggie, but you only wave if they are smoking a cigar and pushing a cart.

i wave less and less now.. because i feel like a idiot when no one waves back... Almost like seeing someone face to face and saying, hello, or good afternoon and they look right at you and walk right by...

I experienced that when I rode through the west side of PA last month. Near my home in Illinois everyone waves but the further east I went the less it happened. When I traveled south through the Pittsburgh area, almost nobody was waving. When I headed west through WV and OH the responses picked up and by the time I was in IN it was almost back to normal for me.

Yep.  Seems the more we talk about "the brotherhood" the less folks are incline to maintain it.  I'm not old school, new school, too cool, or anything else for that matter.  We don't need to go back, we just need to catch up.  I don't want to get to ranting about what some see as the obvious, or what some don't see at all.

It's an east coast thing; more northern you get. Folks down south and out west are much more friendlier.

I wave at everyone if I see them and if it's safe to take one hand of the bars whether they wave or not, no matter what they ride. As a side note: guess who is most consistent to wave back = Goldwing riders

I do the wave at ball games. The problem is, I'm the only one, people just see me popping up after scanning across the crowd.

Over the years I've waved at bikes coming toward me, and 5 times, it was cops on their duty bikes, and each of them waved back. thought that was cool.

I live in the Houston TX area. I wave unless it is unsafe, like in a tight curve. Most everyone waves back regardless of bike make. About the only ones who do not wave back are members of a certain 1% MC.

Honestly I DO NOT see what all the waving is about. I drove a Vette for a couple of years and all the Vette guys waved or beeped, guess I was one of the cool guys for a while. Hated the Vette, just took it off my bucket list! It is not safe to be waving, its a distraction, sort of like a passenger only not as bad (LOL) I live in Pittsburgh. Morons are waving across a divided 4 lane highway doing 70mph. Got news for you, I am not waving, I am riding and I do not have time to be looking 50 yrds away to know its time to wave because another bike is coming. Now when my distraction (wife) is with me she is officially in charge of waving and she waves at everybody. RANT OVER!
