Fellow Riders

I have been looking into rear view cameras for my Vision for the following reasons
- Eliminate blind spots
- Free up OEM mirrors for potential speaker install

The 4cam solution has been mentioned in other posts. I am looking for a system which includes a 3.5" high def display (waterproof..I've found some that are "weather proof"). CCD camera vs CMOS (better image quality).

All thoughts and feedback is greatly appreciated!

I thought about trying a camera but went the old fashioned way and just added a set of mirrors to the handlebars. Didn't want to take the time to research.

I thought blind spots are on the side of you and not behind you? and this is why cars that do have rear view camera could also have the side detection Sensors. I know my friends car her camera does not do anything for blind spots but the detection device that's in her mirrors let her know when somebody seeing her blind spot

I always check my mirrors first and then a quick glance over my shoulder. The blind spot detection sensors would be a cool addition. Found this add on kit:

Like nailer, I check my blind spots. I can see just fine behind me and about as well to the side as a typical cage, but there is still that blind spot to deal with.

Rear view cameras work better in cars because they have a better control of the light hitting the screen allowing it to viewed easier. Even then, you can't always count on them. On a bike, there is NO light control. Rear view screens are going to be washed out too often to make giving up your mirrors worth it. Just ride a bike with GPS on it and you'll see what I mean.

great point. .if you are riding and the sun is behind you.... I know there has been times i wasn't able to see my gps screen in these situations.. now there is a true blind spot.. (sun behind you ) but it wouldn't matter if you have a "Screen" or not, especially if this screen wasn't designed for these type of lighting conditions.. then there is the case of getting such screen wet, or damaged from the sun...

You can solve the blind spots (side and behind) with 1" convex mirrors mounted in the top-outside corner of the OEM mirrors. Works great. Have them on my truck also.

Fellow Riders...thanks for taking the time to provide your thoughts and input. I've decided not to move forward with a rear camera solution. The reason was a point that was brought up about sun glare and its impact on seeing the display. I have a GPS mounted on my Vision and there have been numerous occasions where I couldn't read the display even with having a shade installed over the GPS. I can't afford not being able to see the LED display.

Thanks again

There are a couple of new products coming out with Heads Up Displays mounted on helmets. One is a kickstarter program.

That may be a better way to get your rear view or blind spot.
