I am. Been every year since 1982, rode out from NC on all of them. Just passing thru in 82 on way to Baniff/Glacier Park in Canada, knew I had to return. Did all those years on Goldwings and Harleys, this will be the first on Vision. Looking forward to it. To me its not just Sturgis alone but the countryside around it and the vast open areas. As they say the trip is the best part of the destination.

Hired a guy to haul the bikes to Sioux Falls and we fly in and get the bikes on Wednesday, August 6th. Staying in Sturgis Thursday through Sunday. Then we head down to Colorado Springs to ride up Pikes Peak. From there we head to the million dollar highway to Durango\Montrose then south to Albuquerque. Then to Oklahoma City and we are going to try and get to Beale Street in Memphis for bike night. Finally head towards Birmingham then back home just outside Atlanta. I am ready to go!!!

Will see you all there. Did you signup for the Victory ride and dine at the Chip?
Ride from CT. Hope the Midwest rains give us a break.
I too go for the riding and countryside. Stay in Hill City and ride the Black Hills. Needles, Custer State Park, Mammoth Museum, Wall, Badlands, Spearfish Canyon to name a few.

Spectacular scenery out there....... Every biker needs to go at least once..........
If you have time go a little further west and see Wyoming and Colorado.....

Never been out there on a bike, been there many many times as a kid and adult in the car. My kids liked it there better than Disney! We will be staying at the Creekside campground, about a mile north of the Full Throttle. None of my buddies ride Victories yet, so I'll probably not get to the Victory ride...

I'll be on the Black Vision ;-)

Love that ride, coming out of durango/silverton down to New Mexico. Usually stop at Clines Corner and eat. If you're in the pikes peak area, check out Mount Evans, the highest paved road other that pikes peak. Around 14,000 ft. Ride safe.

I still would like to do the Sturgis trip, not necessarily the event.  My best riding was over the plains of Kansas over the Great Divide, by the Grand Canyon, over the Sierra Nevada's, the loneliest road in America and through Utah.  Beautiful country our nation is!!!

ljurgens - 2014-07-07 8:38 AM I'll be there the 2nd week!

Hope you know the even is only one week event.

I have been out there many times before during and after the rally.

If you spend any time sitting around your waisting some of the most beautiful country.

Its nothing to put two thousand miles on in just the black hills alone

Crazy Horse sculpture is a joke

I agree with a previous post , Crazy Horse is a tourist trap and unchanged in progress for years. Doesn't look like they will complete it in 200 years at their current pace. Agree also that the area is about the riding not the rally but I like to be there during rally dates because everything caters to and is about the motorcycle and it's rider. I spend just enough time on Lazelle St. to get a t-shirt and last year meet Mike Wolfe and look at the Indian and Victory display. I care nothing about the circus acts, just enjoying God's creation. Chris, need to get with you about the lonliest highway. I want to make it part of a new West trip I am dreaming about By the way, I just got a summons to jury duty in the mail and you will never guess when the dates are, 2 weeks beginning August 4th!

Once you see the black hills you'll go back time after time. As far as being down town try to do only one side of the street one day and do the other side the next day. Take your leather jacket you'll need it. Go up to Bell Foch and head west to Devils Tower. At devils Tower there is a warden that has a great store about it and you might see rock climers going up the rock. There is plenty of night life ask if there is a shuttle bus. No need to run into a big critter.
If you have a motel or hotel ship ups your clothes to and then to home

Check out Hill City, great lunch eateries and they shut the whole town just for bikes, no cars allowed on main street ......

Come on XRsteve you know better than that. Sure they close the road through town down to only motorcycles but just wait about a half hour and see how many cars try to drive down it. I have even stopped campers before. Once I get them to stop I always ask if we need to do the road closed sign in Spanish cause they can't read English. Love the look on their faces. I think dumb cage drivers give the sheriff's the only thing have to do. It's just hard to believe that people that can't obey signs can pass drivers test.
If anyone going out stops by the Alpine Inn for supper look for me on the porch having a beer waiting to go in. I usually wait for the 5 o'clock line to go before I get on the wait list. Stop and say hello.

Sturgis is about having a good time. I can remember Sue and I parking in Hill City and only one other Victory in town back in 2000. Now it's hard not to see a bunch. Looking forward to seeing lots of new Indians there.
